WIPpet Wednesday
Hello Everyone,

It is WIPpet Wednesday, and I have been away for two weeks to finish my manuscript. I am now participating in the A to Z Blog Challenge 2016 and the IWSG Wednesday, which is today also. I am still working on my late responses on my blogs. So, please hang in there with me.

So, it is now time for me to share the books I have read, the books I am reading, and what I plan to read in the future and my WIPpet for this week.

So, here goes:

  • What have I read?

I finished My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult and Bad Boy by Sugar Jamison and Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell.

  • What am I reading?

Judging by Derek Prince and An Unsuitable Job for a Woman by P.D. James.

  • What do I plan to read next?

I Wish You Were Mine by Lauren Layne and Runaway Man by David Handler.

My WIPpet Background: Phoebe left the Human Resources Office after informing the Director that she will quit. Now she is on the way to her office. (My math may not be correct at all on this one. I have 20 paragraphs which is (4x6)-(20-16)= 20.)

WIPpet:

When Phoebe walked into her department, Kirk McBride was waiting on her.

"Morning, Chief."

"My you're mighty chipper this morning. Then the appointment with Daniel was not bad at all. See, I told you yesterday; you didn't have a thing to worry about, so pay up. I won the bet," Kirk said.

"Give me five minutes. I need to write out my resignation and hand it over to you."

"You need to what? What are you talking about?"

"I'm talking about my resignation. You know like as in I quit."

"One minute, Phoebe, if this is a joke I don't find it funny."

"No joke, Chief. I'm quitting. I'll be back in five," and she went to her office as the phone of Kirk's desk rang.

Kirk was on the phone when Phoebe returned, and it wasn't hard to guess that he was on the phone with Peter Urban as he beckoned her to come in and sit down.  As she waited, she observed the fastidious order of Kirk's office. His burnt red mahogany desk, uncluttered with paper, had his notebook, a reading lamp, and five files properly stacked upon each other. Behind the desk stood his bookcase filled with books on marketing administration, again all orderly and alphabetically in rows from A to Z. The glass wall that looked out into the department gave him a good view of when she and her colleagues arrived, but he'd never said anything to anyone that she knew of if they were late. Having been invited to his home to have dinner with him and his wife and their four kids, she met the same meticulousness there.

When he hung up, Phoebe laid the letter on his desk.

"I can't accept that Phoebe," Kirk said.

"Why not?"

"Peter said he and I were going to have lunch with you and talk about this."

"I don't mind having lunch with you guys, but my mind's made up."

"I still can't accept it. You are a valuable employee. No one knows how to plan and process the mergers and acquisitions like you do. You are our most experienced employee which means that Peter has to read your conditions for termination and discuss this with Daniel."

"Kirk, I have no doubt that Daniel Cochran will accept my resignation within a heartbeat, as they say."

"That's where I think you're wrong, Phoebe."

"We'll see. I'm still turning in my resignation. What time do you guys want to meet for lunch?”

"Let's say at 12:30 pm."

Shalom Aleichem,

PatGarcia
