WIPpet Wednesday

Hello Everyone,

It is WIPpet Wednesday. Many thanks to Emily Witt, who initiated this wonderful WIPpet gathering.  I am still working out of boxes, but the boxes are fewer than before, and I am not complaining. I am elated. Just hooked up my hp wireless printer, successfully.

           So, here goes for today:

  • What have I read?

I read In Praise of Lilith, by Susan Scott. The review goes up on my blogs, Amazon, Germany, and Goodreads on Friday. I’m still writing the review for Passion & Struggle. It has such an impact that I had to reread some chapters again.

What am I reading?

I am still reading PEAK: Secrets From The New Science Of Expertise by Anders Ericsson and Robert Pool, How To Become A Writer by Barbara Baig, and I Was Right On Time, My Journey from the Negro Leagues to the Majors, Buck O’Neil with Steve Wulf and David Conrad.

  • What do I plan to read next?

The Violin Man’s Legacy by Seumas Gallacher and Flash 40 Life’s Moments by Janelle Jalbert, The Last Coach by Allen Barra, and My Personal Best by John Wooden with Steve Jamison.

My Snippet is composed of 19 paragraphs, give or take, minus 2. Sorry but my math is lousy this week. (Math. 20-16=4+8=12-31=19). Nineteen paragraphs that reveal one of the problems Daniel will confront some time in the future.

Background and summary: Phoebe has just left Kirk after finding out she will be working in the executive suite. She steps into the lift to go to her new working location and who would be inside riding up, Tammy Taylor.

Unfortunately, she wasn’t alone. Tammy Taylor was inside the lift.

“Late again, Phoebe?”

“Morning, Tammy,” Phoebe said, ignoring her question.

“Do you know the word punctuality?”

Phoebe looked away and turned to face the door ignoring her.

One of these days you’ll know how it feels to get four boys dressed and be on time,

“Or was it those brats of yours?”

Phoebe remained silent, continuing to ignore Tammy.

Just wait, my dear. Soon you’ll be taking care of those ‘brats’ yourself.

She hoped the seventh floor would come soon before she did Tammy bodily harm.

“Cat got your tongue?”

One, two, three, four, five… Keep counting Phoebe don’t let her know it bothers you.

“Start looking for another job cause when Daniel and I get married, you’re out of a here,” Tammy said.

The lift stopped, and Phoebe pushed the button and kept the doors from opening. She turned and gave Tammy her undivided attention.

“You have a problem, Tammy. If Daniel Cochran fires me, I’ll make sure that you and he live in hell. So try me. And furthermore, you need to get Daniel to ease your itch, or I'll ease it by putting my foot there, and he won't be able to touch you until the stitches are removed. So don't you ever let me hear you talking about my kids again."

Phoebe let go of the button, and the doors opened, and she stepped out first.

“Now you have a glorious, day, Ms. Tammy.”

She didn't even bother to look back at the woman she’d just threatened.

That’s all, folks.

For those of you celebrating the holiday on Monday, Happy Labor Day!

And to all of you, I say,

Be safe. See you next week.

Shalom aleichem,

Pat Garcia August 13 2016
